How Mora Maastricht professionalizes visitor safety with EVA and Brilliant
In the snack factory of Mora Maastricht – part of Van Geloven – a tightly organized production process is run daily for millions of croquettes, bitterballen, and frikandellen. But besides food safety on the production line, there is another process that is just as important: who is allowed on the premises, under what conditions, and how do you ensure it is demonstrably safe?
Together with Sandra Thomann, HSE advisor at Mora Maastricht, and Gysbert Wind, commercial director and co-owner of EVA Solutions, we discussed the challenges surrounding visitor registration, the implementation of EVA Visitor Registration, and the experiences in practice.
From the existing collaboration with Mora and Van Geloven, Brilliant was involved as a hygiene partner and sparring partner within the broader safety and hygiene framework in which this solution was rolled out.
“What did the visitor registration process look like before implementation at Mora?”
At Van Geloven, a process had already been initiated regarding visitor registration using EVA at the location in Tilburg. That experience served as the starting point for critically examining the visitor process in Maastricht as well.
“Visitors were still manually registered in a paper logbook,” Sandra explains. “That might have worked fine once, but it no longer meets the requirements we have to comply with now.”
Gysbert adds: “Such a logbook is not GDPR-compliant, prone to errors, and lacks clarity. And you cannot demonstrate that visitors have actually reviewed the safety and hygiene regulations.”
Although safety and hygiene instructions were available within Mora, they were not digitalized and therefore not secured. “In an environment where safety and food safety play such a large role, that simply is not sufficient,” says Gysbert. And with strict requirements from IFS, BRC, and Food Defense, this is becoming an ever-greater risk.
“Why did Mora choose EVA?”
Choosing EVA wasn’t a leap of faith. The system was already well-known and proven within Van Geloven.
“We were already using EVA in Tilburg, but in Maastricht we wanted to build on that and develop it further,” Sandra explains. “That’s why we opted for three fixed check-in kiosks here and a process where visitors check in in advance and automatically receive a badge.”
For Mora, this represented the next step in professionalization, in line with the scale and dynamics of the venue.
What does EVA visitor registration do?
EVA Solutions offers a digital system that helps organizations manage visitor flows, presence, and secure access control. The system combines visitor registration with clear safety and hygiene instructions, access through QR code and badge, and up-to-date attendance registration. Additionally, EVA provides insightful reports that support audits and emergency response, ensuring organizations can always demonstrate who has been on the premises and what instructions have been followed.
“Brilliant is well-versed in the practices of food companies. It is precisely this knowledge that makes it easier to effectively integrate a solution like EVA within an organization.” – Gysbert Wind, EVA Solutions
How does EVA visitor registration work at Mora Maastricht?
When a visit is registered in advance, the visitor automatically receives all necessary information. This includes house rules, safety and hygiene instructions, a link to the mandatory instruction video, and a personal QR code. Everything is managed from one central invitation.
“The convenient part is that you can send an EVA invitation directly via Outlook,” says Sandra. “This makes it user-friendly for our colleagues. Everyone already works with Outlook, so there's nothing new to learn.”
On the day of the visit, registration is just as smooth. Upon arrival, visitors check in at one of the three EVA registration kiosks at the entrance. They scan their QR code, after which the system automatically verifies if the instructions have been fully followed. If everything is in order, a badge is printed immediately.
“The badge prints out immediately once you scan,” Sandra notes. “It feels professional, both for us and for the visitors. You can sense that it instills confidence.”
For contractors who frequently return, the process is even simpler. They receive a continuous QR code and do not have to watch the instruction video every time. This saves time and avoids unnecessary waiting times, without compromising safety.
“How did the implementation go?”
The implementation of EVA took about two to three months in total and, according to both Mora and EVA, went remarkably smoothly.
“The project with Mora got off to a quick start thanks to the short lines of communication. The collaboration went well, which allowed us to move forward quickly,” says Gysbert.
EVA handled the technical aspects of the implementation. The system was set up, integrated with Outlook, and configured to work with the check-in kiosks and printers. EVA also provided training to the employees involved, ensuring they understood how the system worked and what was expected of them.
Within Mora itself, the process was carefully managed and supervised. By organizing the project well internally and assigning responsibilities, EVA was not viewed as “just another new system,” but as an integral part of daily operations.
“What has EVA Mora concretely delivered?”
Concretely, EVA has delivered four things at Mora:
1. The reception desk is less busy
Since EVA Visitor Registration has been in use, Mora Maastricht has noticed, above all, a sense of calm and clarity in its daily operations. It starts right at the reception desk. “The reception desk is really less burdened,” says Sandra. “Less manual work, less chance of errors, and as a result, just a lot more peace of mind.” Whereas visitors previously had to register manually and badges were issued on the spot, that process is now largely automated. This saves time, reduces the risk of errors, and eases the pressure on staff.
2. Information for audits is available at the touch of a button
EVA also provides immediate benefits when it comes to audits. Whereas information used to have to be gathered from various sources, Mora now has access to it with the push of a button. “You can see exactly who was on site, when instructions were followed, and which rules were accepted,” says Sandra. “That makes a huge difference during audits.”
3. A professional image toward contractors and suppliers
In addition, EVA helps create a more professional image for contractors and suppliers. The check-in process is clear, consistent, and modern. Visitors know what is expected of them and find the check-in process logical and well-organized.
4. Greater uniformity across Van Geloven production sites
Uniformity also plays an important role at Van Geloven. “When multiple locations use EVA, we’re all on the same page,” Sandra explains. “That makes things much easier internally.”
“Does EVA solve everything?”
No, and Sandra doesn’t expect that from this system either. Behavior remains human work.
“Wearing safety glasses on a cap instead of on the nose isn’t solved with software,” says Sandra matter-of-factly. “But EVA does give us a solid foundation.”
This foundation helps make conversations more concrete. Employees and visitors receive the same instructions upon entry, at the same time and through the same system. “Now you can say: you saw the rules upon entry. That makes the conversation much clearer.”
About the partnership between Mora and Brilliant Group
The decision to adopt EVA Visitor Registration—including setup, implementation, and ongoing development—was made entirely independently by Mora Maastricht in direct collaboration with EVA Solutions, without any active involvement from Brilliant in the process. At the same time, Mora Maastricht has been collaborating with Brilliant for some time in other areas related to safety and hygiene. These include personal protective equipment, safety solutions, and concepts that contribute to a safe and well-organized work environment.
“Whether it’s PPE or other safety solutions, we know that Brilliant responds quickly,” says Sandra. “You ask a question and you simply get a clear answer right away.”
According to her, this collaboration is characterized above all by a pleasant balance. “Not too much contact, not too little; just right. I love that.”

From their existing collaboration, Brilliant often sees where processes at food companies can be organized more efficiently and with less labor intensity. When signals arise regarding visitor flows, registration, or safety assurance, discussions are initiated. If it appears that EVA Visitor Registration may be an appropriate solution, that possibility is explored and the first joint meeting with EVA follows.
Further technical implementation and development of the system then proceed in direct contact with EVA Solutions. Brilliant remains involved as a sparring partner from the practice of food production environments. Not by taking over the project, but by thinking along and connecting where it adds value within the broader safety and hygiene framework.
In conclusion
Thanks to EVA Visitor Registration, Mora Maastricht now has a visitor process that meets the requirements of a modern food production environment. The result:
- A secure and professional digital visitor process;
- Complete audit trail of instructions and access grants;
- Reduced workload at the reception;
- A better experience for visitors and contractors;
- More control over safety and behavior at the site(s).
And all of this in a factory where millions of snacks roll off the production line daily.
