PPWR: the new European packaging legislation
As of August 12, 2026, the first obligations from the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will come into effect. This regulation aims to make packaging within the European Union more sustainable, safer, and better recyclable.
Brilliant Group actively follows the developments surrounding the PPWR and works with suppliers and manufacturers to meet the obligations that apply to us as an importer, distributor, and wholesaler.
The information on the compliance of packaging is based on documentation, declarations, and data made available within the supply chain by manufacturers, producers, and suppliers. Technical documentation and any declarations of conformity are managed by the responsible market participants and are available to the competent supervisory authorities.
The PPWR is being implemented in phases. For various future obligations, such as additional labeling requirements and digital product passports, the implementation rules are currently being further developed by the European Union. We continue to monitor these developments and will adjust our information provision as soon as new legal obligations become applicable.
If you have questions about the PPWR, the packaging we supply or would like to receive a PPWR statement by email, feel free to contact us at info@hygienepartner.nl.
