NEOGEN Reveal 3-D Allergen Rapid Test Soy

The presence of soy is made visible by means of specific antibodies. Reveal 3-D for Soy is a unique screening instrument with a 3-line readout: a control line confirms that the method has been performed successfully, and two other lines distinguish non-detectable, low, and high levels of soy presence.

For a number of products with specific characteristics (acidity, high tannin content) or with high absorbent properties (flour, meal), it is advisable to dilute the product, as this affects the detection limit. This test is not suitable for soy sauce and soy lecithin.

Analysis on acidic or salty products with a low pH value and products containing many thickeners may yield an invalid result.

Please read the instructions for use carefully before testing.

The procedure
1. Add the extraction buffer to the sample tube.
2. Add 0.25 ml of sample (CIP rinse water or cotton swab) to the sample tube.
3. Apply the cap and shake for one minute.
4. Remove the cap and fill it with liquid from the tube.
5. Immerse the Reveal 3-D instrument in the liquid in the cap.
6. Leave the instrument in it until liquid flows into the test window.
7. Place the device on a flat surface and allow the test to develop for 5 minutes.

Sample Materials
The Reveal 3-D Test for Soy has been developed to detect soy on surfaces and in rinse water. Although every effort is made to validate as many variants as possible, some sample materials may not be suitable for the Reveal 3-D test method. More information is available upon request.

Note: The Reveal 3-D Test for Soy is NOT suitable for the detection of soy lecithin.

Users are advised to perform (or have performed) a validation study before use in combination with a validated laboratory test (such as Neogens Veratox ELISA), to confirm the applicability of Reveal 3-D and verify results. A validation will provide clarity regarding any problematic sample types.

The Reveal 3-D test can also be used for detection in some food products. However, it is recommended to perform (or have performed) a validation beforehand to confirm that the test is suitable for the material in question. Existing validations on food products must be performed again when ingredients or production processes are changed.

Hydrolyzed and fermented proteins may not be detectable with an antibody-based allergen test, such as Reveal 3-D. Although these proteins may not be recognized by the antibodies, they can still be allergenic.
