The presence of mustard is made visible by means of specific antibodies. Reveal 3-D for Mustard is a unique screening instrument with a 3-line readout: a control line confirms that the method has been performed successfully, and two other lines distinguish non-detectable, low, and high levels of mustard presence.

This test detects various mustard varieties (yellow, brown, and black). Mustard products that have been sterilized (high heat) may cause problems during detection. Known cross-reactions with this test are rapeseed and canola.

Analysis on acidic or saline products with a low pH value and products containing many thickeners may yield an invalid result.

The procedure
1. Add the extraction buffer to the sample tube.
2. Add 0.25 ml of sample (CIP rinse water or cotton swab) to the sample tube.
3. Apply the cap and shake for one minute.
4. Remove the cap and fill it with liquid from the tube.
5. Immerse the Reveal 3-D instrument in the liquid in the cap.
6. Leave the instrument in it until liquid flows into the test window.
7. Place the device on a flat surface and allow the test to develop for 5 minutes.
