This reliable test method utilizes a 'lateral flow device' (LFD), an immunochromatographic method that employs antibodies specific for the detection of cow's milk protein. Positive results are indicated by the presence of three lines: a control line, a marker line, and a test line, if milk protein is present equal to or higher than 3 ppm for raw materials, processed food products, and CIP or rinse water solution, and above 2.5 g/mL per 100 cm² for surfaces. These threshold values may vary depending on the matrix tested. Samples containing more than 3% milk may result in an invalid test, which is indicated by the absence of the marker line and/or test line.
  
  The dynamic range of the NEOGEN Rapid Cow's Milk Protein Set has been demonstrated at 1.25 ppm and 100,000 ppm of cow's milk. The highest limit has been demonstrated at approximately 1.5 mg/mL of NISTa 1549 in distilled water.
