The NEOGEN Petrifilm Staph Express (STX) system consists of a NEOGEN Petrifilm Staph Express Count plate and a NEOGEN Petrifilm Staph Express disk, which are packaged separately. The NEOGEN Petrifilm STX plate is a sample-ready culture medium system containing a cold-water soluble gelling agent. The chromogenic, modified Baird-Parker medium in the plate is selective and differential for Staphylococcus aureus, but can also indicate Staphylococcus hyicus (S. hyicus) or Staphylococcus intermedius (S. intermedius).
