AlerTox Sticks Shellfish (Crustaceans) is a simple and fast test to detect shellfish residues on surfaces and in solid & liquid product samples. Thanks to its simple method, it is an effective tool to prevent cross-contamination and support the implementation and compliance with HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC & IFS.

The test uses a combination of monoclonal antibodies against a major antigen in the muscles of crustaceans, tropomyosin, known as the allergen Met e 1 from Metapenaeus ensis (shrimp), Cra c 1 from Crangon crangon (North Sea shrimp), and similar proteins from other species. The test is non-reactive to fish, molluscs, and all types of meat. AlerTox Sticks crustacean is capable of detecting the antigens of Arthropodea (insects, mites, and spiders) with a much lower sensitivity (100 to 1,000 times), for the detection of gross contamination of foodstuffs (e.g., cereals or flour) by insects.
