The Commodities Act refers to the core temperature, which can be perfectly simulated in this way. Measuring the temperature inside a product has the disadvantage that contamination can occur. Alternatively, one can measure the temperature of the glycerol stored under conditions similar to the product.

Before first use, pierce the inner seal with the probe. For an accurate measurement, the bottle should be placed where the temperature is highest: this is often near the door, where most temperature fluctuations occur. Place the bottle at eye level. Ensure that there is sufficient clearance above the bottle to insert the thermometer probe into it.
