The shoe's upper material consists of hydrophobic microfiber and hydrophobic textile, making it very lightweight and water-repellent. The breathable textile lining ensures a pleasant climate inside the shoe, and because the shoe is completely leather-free, it is also suitable for people with a leather allergy.

To ensure that the MATTHEW always fits perfectly, it is available in three different fits: for the wide foot (type 1), the narrow foot (type 3), and the normal foot (type 2).
