What is a resistive touchscreen or display? Think, for example, of digital PDA devices and scanners. A resistive display or touchscreen is literally pressure-sensitive and can be operated with both a finger and various tools, such as the pen shown above. Beneath the layer being touched, two additional layers are placed with an air layer in between. One of these layers is also supplied with electrical voltage; this is registered when a finger or object presses on it. A major advantage is that pixels can be clicked very precisely and it is even possible to draw on it, such as a signature.
