Product description
The Bioavid Lateral Flow Egg with included Hook Line is an immunochromatographic test for the sensitive and qualitative detection of egg residues on surfaces (e.g. hygiene control in food production lines), during cleaning, in process water (CIP water), and in food samples. The integrated Hook Line prevents false-negative interpretation of highly positive samples.
Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 stipulates that egg must be listed on food labels as a cause of food allergies. Similar legal regulations are in force in the US, Canada, Australia, China, New Zealand, and many other countries. Egg white contains approximately 10% to 11% protein. Of allergenic importance are four main allergens that make up 80% of the protein content of eggs. The main allergens are ovomucoid (11%), ovalbumin (54%), ovotransferrin (12%), and lysozyme (3.5%). The proteins in the egg yolk, on the other hand, have only moderate allergenicity.
Dip Sticks are a user-friendly method and ensure a fast and reliable analysis. Applying the Bioavid Dip Sticks is very simple and can be performed by untrained personnel. All Bioavid test kits can be stored at room temperature and are therefore an ideal tool for immediate testing in production facilities. The Bioavid test kits contain the complete equipment for the analysis.
Sample preparation
• Surfaces (swabbing): wipe the surface with a cotton swab moistened with PBS and rinse the swab in the reaction vessel.
• Food samples: homogenize the food sample and centrifuge or filter.
• Liquid samples (e.g. CIP water): no preparation.
LOD (Limit of Origin)
• Whole egg (in water): ≤ 1 ppm
• Egg white (in water): ≤ 1 ppm
• Egg yolk (in water): 500 ppm
• Spiked zero matrices: 10 - 50 ppm
• Surfaces/smears (fresh whole egg): 0.08 µg / cm²
• Surfaces/smears (egg white): ≤ 0.03 µg / cm²
• Surfaces/smears (egg yolk): 8 µg / cm²
• Surfaces/smears (pasteurized egg powder): 0.015 µg / cm²
• CIP water: 1 ppm
