Bioavid Almond Hook Line Almond Allergen Rapid Test

The Bioavid Lateral Flow Almond with included Hook Line is an immunochromatographic test for the sensitive and qualitative detection of almond residues on surfaces (e.g. hygiene control in food production lines), during cleaning, in process water (CIP water), and in food samples. The integrated Hook Line prevents false-negative interpretation of highly positive samples.

Nuts are generally very powerful allergens and can cause mild skin reactions and gastrointestinal symptoms. Therefore, it is even more important to prevent cross-contamination, which can lead to the accidental consumption of almonds by allergic patients. Anaphylactic shock can occur in some highly sensitive allergic patients. Almonds have a high protein content of approx. 25%. Approx. 95% of almond proteins are water-soluble, making them a very dangerous source of cross-contamination in production lines. To date, there is no cure for food allergies.

According to Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, almonds must be listed on food labels because they can cause allergic reactions. Similar regulations exist, for example, in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Dip Sticks are a user-friendly method and ensure a fast and reliable analysis. Applying the Bioavid Dip Sticks is very simple and can be performed by untrained personnel. All Bioavid test kits can be stored at room temperature and are therefore an ideal tool for immediate testing in production facilities. Sample preparation
• Surfaces (swabbing): wipe the surface with a cotton swab moistened with PBS and rinse the swab in the reaction vessel.
• Food samples: homogenize the food sample and centrifuge or filter.
• Liquid samples (e.g. CIP water): no preparation.
